Recently, I moved into a new house and it got me thinking how changes in our lives can have different effects depending on our perspectives.
Although I've only moved a few streets away into a similar sized house and similar neighborhood I feel that my life has changed a lot lately and I think the main reason is that change causes further change.
Having moved house a few times in my life, I have a habit of using a move as an excuse to finally throw out the things I would normally hang on to for a rainy day, like old clothes I no longer wear or that furniture with the wobbly legs and I think doing that helps to encourage me to move on in my life. Without events in my life that force me to move on and make these changes I feel that I wouldn't have it in me to consciously change aspects of my life.
Things like this make me question whether or not I make enough active changes in my life and where to draw the line. If I constantly make changes to my life how do I know whether they're good decisions or if I'm just changing things for the sake of changing? How do we define good changes?
I think the phrase 'all things in moderation' is one of the most important life lessons anyone can learn. Making no changes at all to our lives can really hold us back and force us to live in a life of complacency whilst taking it to the extreme opposite and making changes to every aspect of our lives could stop us from really savoring the beauty and little wonders of life itself.
I understand why people live in both life styles but I have to wonder, to find that happy medium, where do we draw the line?
